Sol Martinez Demarco

Social sciences researcher

Hi!
My name is Sol, I’m a non-binary person, and my pronouns are they/them/theirs. I love to hang out among techy/geeky/nerdy people, although my background is in social sciences. I'm a researcher and PhD candidate at the Harz University of Applied Sciences, and a former researcher at the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW), at University of Tübingen. I live in Germany, but I'm from Argentina.

My research interests are:

  • Diversity and Inclusion (DEI) in F/LOSS communities, and more generally in the IT sector.
  • Infrastructure, as in tech infrastructure, and the people who set it up, maintain it and sustain it.
  • Science and Technology Studies (STS).
  • Ethics of care or care ethics, whichever option you prefer.
  • Accountable AI.
Also, I'm a Linux newbie, running Manjaro on my private laptop (and it hasn't break yet!). In my non-existent free time, I like to read webtoons, mangas, manhwas, and manhuas, watch anime and play Zelda videogames — although right now I’m addicted to Stardew Valley.

I speak Spanish and English fluently, and I can have basic conversations in German.
